As we head into Labor Day weekend, I’ve been thinking about the thousands of financial advisors I’ve had the privilege of working with over my career.
Nearly all of them built their businesses one client, one relationship at a time. And none of it came easy.
I’ve known advisors who bought stacks of newspapers and tucked their business cards inside. Who set up tables outside local companies hoping to catch employees on their way home. They cold-called. Hosted seminars. Knocked on doors. Asked for referrals. And then got up the next day and did it all over again.
That’s how many of today’s incredible wealth management businesses were built.
We talk a lot about record markets, historic valuations, M&A and the extraordinary opportunities available to advisors today. But sometimes what gets lost is the decades of grit, persistence and hard work that created that value in the first place.
So this Labor Day, congratulations to the advisors who spent their careers building something truly valuable – for their clients, their teams and their families.
The opportunities available to you today were a long time in the making.
You’ve earned them.
